Job Description

WMAZ in Macon/Warner Robins, GA seeks a creative, ambitious newsroom leader to transform our content daily. The Executive Producer will work with a team of producers, reporters, and digital staff to craft impactful content that is highly engaging and memorable. Applicants must have strong editorial judgment, newscast producing experience and fully understand the needs of our audience across all platforms. This position requires leadership, solid decision making skills and the ability to work well in a dynamic newsroom environment. Candidates must also be skilled at infusing our "Straight from the Heart” brand into all newscasts.

 The Executive Producer will:

  • Plan coverage, story selection and ensure effective delivery of daily newscasts.
  • Manages the daily performance of Producers and their shows. 
  • Supports producers by providing editorial skills, copy editing, and creative production and storytelling skills.
  • Works with reporters on story concepts to execution.
  • Participates in daily editorial meetings.
  • Skillfully use social media and digital tools to research, discover and distribute content
  • Inspire enterprise stories and coordinate special coverage with news leadership team
  • Regularly critique newscasts with the staff, both as a team and with individual producers
  • Help create a multi-platform experience
  • Work collaboratively with other managers and perform tasks as required by News Director

Job Requirements

Requirements:

  • Experience in producing breaking news, newscasts and creative content production
  • Strong understanding of the tenets of professional journalism
  • Knowledge of ENPS, Edius, photojournalism, editing, and content management systems a plus
  • Organizational and communication skills, and the ability to work under constant time-sensitive deadlines
  • BA/BS in journalism, communications or related a plus
