Job Description

The Financial Analyst provides operational and analytical support for the Sourcing and Analysis team. This role is responsible for supporting authoring and review of business cases and contracts in support of TEGNA’s business.  This includes both project management for the financial approval and review processes as well as analysis and negotiation/contract execution support. This is a hands-on role requiring the willingness and ability to be both strategist and tactician.

 

  • Analytical support for vendor negotiation and business cases justifying purchase.
  • Perform expense analytics, market spending analysis, and model potential outcomes to test savings hypotheses and develop recommendations and drive cost savings.
  • Project management skills to ensure intake and support of new business cases and approvals are provided in timely and comprehensive manner. Primary owner of project plans and dashboard from need identification to approval authorization and contract execution.
  • Participate in the development of sourcing strategy, contract negotiation, and contract execution process; drive efficiency through continuous process improvement and creative cost-saving initiatives.
  • Analyze supplier proposals, stakeholder requests, spend information, and other data sources to determine ROI or total cost of various options and quantify decision impact.
  • Administer and maintain contract database (CobbleStone) of corporate and enterprise-wide agreements; lead corporate contract management intake and status reporting processes.
  • Provide management, detailed instruction, and continuous follow-up to support RFP/bids, contract processes, and sourcing initiatives.
  • Proactively manage internal and external customer expectations, and provide customer service and support to field users.

Job Requirements

REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in Business, Purchasing & Supply Chain Management, Economics, Finance, or other quantitative fields
  • 1-2 years work experience preferred with consulting, sourcing, project management, or other business case analysis experience preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, organizational skills, analytical ability, and proven ability to work within teams in a decentralized environment
  • Excellent data analysis skills, including MS Excel pivot tables and VLOOKUP functions
  • Proficient Microsoft Office skills. MS Project of other project management tools a plus, as well as confidence in using new function specific resources.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to manage change
  • Experience in project management or managing timelines and status updates
  • Ability to multi-task and balance long-term and short-term initiatives and projects.
  • Motivated to grow and perform in a high-performance organization
