Job Description

​KREM in Spokane, Washington, has an immediate opening for a Head of Technology and Operations. This role is full-time, exempt, has direct reports and reports to the General Manager.  ​

​​​The Head of Technology and Operations is responsible for leading the Operations, Maintenance, Transmitter and Information Technology team, which supports KREM broadcast technologies in a 24/7/365 environment.

This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing the broadcast engineering and studio activities day-to-day, including during live broadcasts. Other responsibilities include managing the implementation and documentation of capital and special projects, managing and maintaining the compliance to FCC requirements, advising and assisting in the creation of operational and capital budgets, assisting in the technical support of critical hardware and software, monitoring and scrutinizing daily on-air technical quality and supporting improved workflows for both on-air and online products.​

 

 

 

Job Requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of experience and education and a minimum of five years' experience in a broadcast operations/technology management role.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership, team management, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of broadcast technologies including; Transmitters, Antennas, Broadcast Switchers, Router Systems, ENG and DSNG Transmissions, Field Cameras, Signal Path Workflows.
  • Working knowledge of other technologies including; Camera Robotics Controls and Information Technology Infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated strong project management experience.
  • Ability to work well and make quick decisions under pressure.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule in support of a 24x7x365 operation.
  • General Cisco router and switch networking knowledge a plus.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment a plus.
  • Virtual infrastructure concepts and server hardware troubleshooting a plus.
  • Basic desktop/laptop support and Windows Active Directory experience preferred.
  • Cisco and or Microsoft certifications​
