Job Description

Position Summary

This position maintains computers, software, IT infrastructure, and documentation for WOI/KCWI.  As part of Tegna, this position assures that company policies relevant to these technologies are followed.  This position is expected to learn and support the infrastructures of television broadcast, news, and sales.

Job Responsibilities

  • Participate in managing and maintaining broadcast and technology related equipment within the facility with primary responsibilities of Desktop support and IT infrastructure.
  • Understand and assist in compliance with good engineering practice, rules and regulations applicable to FCC, local, state, and federal laws.
  • Help implement new technologies and technical infrastructure for the facility.
  • Participate in engineering and other technical projects.
  • Work closely with management and co-workers to ensure company objectives are being met.
  • Share the knowledge

Job Requirements

Desirable Skills and knowledge base

  • 3 years previous broadcast engineering experience.
  • Previous experience with IT systems in a broadcast environment including AD, and sales and news applications.
  • Basic knowledge of Cisco Networking, VLSM, and protocols
  • The ability to terminate broadcast and IT related cables is required.
  • Proficiency with PC/Server administration is preferred.
  • Proficiency with PC and MS Office, Linux experience a plus.
  • Experience with Broadcast automation systems, routers, video storage devices, SAN storage, Isilon storage, satellite ground stations, and RF preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and organization skills
  • Ability to identify the development needs of others and coach/mentor others to improve their knowledge and/or skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work extended hours as needed, may include overnight and weekends.
  • Must be fluent in English.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • ‘Can Do’ attitude, desire to learn new skills consistent with good engineering/IT practices.
