Job Description

KSDK-TV, The NBC affiliate in St. Louis, MO has an opening for an IT Manager. This position builds, strategizes, innovates, and leads the IT technical support team. He/she will manage the day-to-day work of IT Support and maintain all technical systems and equipment ensuring error free operation.  Other duties include recruitment, training, and performance management.

Description/Duties:

  • Supervise Tech Support staff.
  • Responsible for technical areas of the facility (including broadcast technologies & IT systems).
  • Develop, document, and implement best practices, maintenance procedures, and proactive changes to existing systems to promote continual service improvements.
  • Manage helpdesk system, tracking incidents and requests, ensuring tickets are updated and progressing toward resolution.
  • Participate in engineering planning, ensure projects are implemented and completed on schedule using industry standards, best practices, and are fully documented.

Job Requirements

Mandatory Skills and Experience Required:

  • 5+ years current television experience in an engineering role supporting on-air/critical systems.
  • Minimum 2 years of television experience in technical management or supervision.
  • In-depth knowledge of broadcast television technologies including; IT and infrastructure, Critical Air-Chain, Playout and Control Room Automation, Newsroom Computer Systems, Live Streaming, and traditional broadcast technology.
  • Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot and solve medium to complex technical issues, IT or Broadcast in real-time.
  • Proactively maintain/manage on-air and IT related operational systems and components.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office365 suite, AutoCAD LT.
  • Proficiency in operating systems (i.e. Microsoft, Linux, etc.) and IP networks.
  • Organized and detail oriented with excellent verbal and written communication skills including authoring and maintaining polished technical support documents such as FAQs, step-by-step instructions, and checklists.
  • Comfortable supporting a dynamic, evolving, and fast-paced news environment.
  • Ability to interact and communicate at a high level with technical staff, production personnel, managers, and co-workers.
  • This position requires being on call and flexibility to work odd hours during maintenance windows or as emergencies dictate.

 

 Preferred Skills and Experience

  • 10+ years technical experience in an engineering role supporting a news-centric commercial television station in a top-25 market.
  • Understanding of emerging digital production and media platforms
  • Certifications in IT or Broadcast.
  • Project Management skills and experience.
