The TEGNA Marketing Solutions team is looking for a curious, junior-level marketing or advertising professional with a passion for discovering the why. The role will support all TMS initiatives including but not limited to station projects, corporate campaigns, white label development and vertical driven sales opportunities. The role will report directly to the Senior Consumer Insights Strategist.

 

General Job Description

The Insights Strategist is a marketing professional with experience focused in understanding the consumer through quantitative and qualitative media research. The position requires a person who is genuinely interested in learning, who is driven to find the needle in the hay stack (or who will at least try their best,) who is great at piecing together puzzles and who doesn’t mind getting their hands dirty. Under the direction of the Senior Insights Strategist, this position assists in identifying consumer trends and behaviors through their use of research tools, internal sources, industry websites and general marketing trends to identify strategies that help drive revenue across all TEGNA properties.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist in the analysis and execution of the insights research process used to identify the best opportunities to engage consumers and drive revenue growth; concentration on consumer psychographics and demographics, media consumption, vertical trends, competitive and other relevant marketing data, depending on the need
  • Participate as needed in station, client or internal brainstorms, meetings and presentations
  • Other duties and responsibilities may be required to ensure the success of TMS

Job Requirements

Position Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 yrs experience at an agency, client side or with a media company; preferably 3+yrs
  • Basic media and marketing knowledge, including both traditional and digital exposure
  • Must be a self-starter, comfortable working in an open environment, agency-paced, deadline-oriented environment
  • Highly analytical, critical thinker who excels at creative problem solving
  • Willingness to take-on the tough projects
  • Motivated team member with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • General desire to learn
  • Organized and efficient worker
  • Proficient in MS Excel and MS PowerPoint
  • Experience with marketing research tools such as Simmons, MRI, Scarborough, Nielsen, Kantar, Media Monitors, etc. not necessary but preferred
