The Opportunity

It’s an exciting time at THV11 as we search for a new Local Sales Manager. This position is responsible for leading a three-pronged sales strategy; growing share by super serving local clients, developing results producing digital campaigns, and developing brand new TV/Digital business. The Local Sales Manager is responsible for developing a strong, forward thinking sales team and will successfully train each Account Executive to meet sales goals. The position reports to the Director of Sales.

We want someone with a proven history of exceeding sales goals; both television and digital. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational, presentation & leadership skills and enjoy being in front of our clients.  We’re looking for an idea person and strategic thinker who not only creates sales opportunities for advertisers but also helps in the continuing development of our entire team. 



  • Lead a team of direct reports consisting of Account Executives and Account Managers plus manage a handful of dotted line reports
  • Develop sales strategy for your team and everyone on the team to reach revenue goals for the station
  • Analyze each account to create ideal marketing executions for clients
  • Develop strong relationships with local clients and manage key local accounts with your team
  • Ensure top-shelf service is provided to all accounts
  • Recruit and retain ‘A’ sales and support talent for your team
  • Effectively train new hires, existing Account Executives and Account Managers on how to sell, how to sell TV, and how to sell Tegna’s large portfolio of digital products
  • Hold teammates accountable to KPIs while maintaining a positive culture – THV11 is the place to work!
  • Identify market potential through lead generation and qualification
  • Complete appropriate business activity reports and forecasts as required
  • Review and adjust metrics to monitor sales/market share changes
  • Supports sales staff with ride along coaching, participating in client meetings, developing proposals and other aspects of the full sales process. Recommend/conduct appropriate training as needed.
  • Responsible for setting the pace for your team
  • ​Key stakeholder involved in decision making for the greater sales department

Job Requirements


  • Minimum 4 years of media sales experience selling TV and Digital products
  • Documented record of exceeding activity and revenue goals
  • Knowledge of all facets of digital sales and marketing
  • Ability to prioritize critical functions to ensure individual and team success
  • Examples of strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Strong time management and organizational skills; the candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure, evolving environment
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and leadership skills for motivating team and maximizing revenue performance
  • Strong presenter and communicator with internal and external customers and partners
  • Strategic thinker and disciplined executor comfortable developing and making recommendations to senior management
  • Disciplined executor successful at rolling out strategic plans from concept to completion
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Wide Orbit Traffic and Wide Orbit Media Sales, Salesforce, Media Monitors and qualitative data (Scarborough).
  • College Degree; Major in Business, Communications, or Marketing preferred
