Job Description

WXIA-TV is looking for a Managing Content Producer that will provide a strong editorial voice for our unique morning show.  The ideal candidate must be able to pitch engaging and informative story ideas each morning along with producing at least two (2) unique packages per day. In addition, the Managing Content Producer will need to write creative scripts and bring traditional topics to life.  The ideal candidates are creative problem solvers with strong journalistic judgment. Must be able to skillfully use social media and digital tools to research, discover and distribute content for TV and digital.

In this role, you will:

  • Create unique newscasts or segments evoking emotion.
  • Develop and help grow segment franchises
  • Write, shoot and edit news stories for on-air broadcasting and digital platforms.
  • Write in an exciting, captivating and authentic manner.
  • Use the latest editing and photography tools to tell great stories.
  • Work with camera-ops, graphic designers and editors to ensure production quality
  • Work closely with talent to schedule tapings and brief them on all aspects of production
  • Input all elements into show rundown-including teases, intros, supers and video packages
  • Work closely with digital team to ensure cross platform/social elements are incorporated
  • Communicate daily development of segments to Executive Producers
  • Lead and inspire news teams to work together for a great newscast.
  • Perform other tasks as required.

 Here’s what you need:

  • BA/BS in journalism, communications or related field
  • 5-7 years of experience preferred
  • Understanding the tenants of professional journalism
  • Skills in producing engaging, content-driven newscasts and digital content
  • Strong social media skills, including an active news hound presence on Twitter and Facebook
  • Knowledge of ENPS, Edius and Axis graphics a plus
  • Organizational skills and the ability to work under constant time pressure deadlines
  • Ability to calmly handle live, breaking news situations and changing events
