Job Description

​KING 5 is seeking a marketing analyst or better yet – Data Storyteller - to help create a culture of consumer-centricity. The marketing analyst will assess consumer preferences in the Pacific Northwest to help the station develop and market relevant consumer products and content. Through a wide variety of mechanisms – surveys, focus groups, interviews, web research and more – the analyst will bring clarity to the marketing department and station employees around target audiences, competitive landscape, societal trends, pre-campaign insights, post-campaign effectiveness and other areas. The analyst will proactively bring the consumer voice into the station and represent the voice of the consumer while partnering on marketing strategies.  ​


  • Design and develop cost-effective research methodologies and approaches to help station understand consumers
  • Research consumer demographics, preferences, needs, trends and media habits
  • Develop target aspirational audiences across platforms
  • Apply consumer insights to a brand strategy
  • Synthesize research into story-driven presentations and executive summaries
  • Confidently articulate when/why products/prototypes do/do not deliver against consumer profiles
  • Partner with 3rd party vendors and internal stakeholders on research execution
  • Leverage all available existing research tools including Nielsen, Media Monitors, Leigh Stowell, Comscore, Google Analytics, Alphonso, Facebook/Twitter analytics, etc. ​

Job Requirements


  • 3+ years experience in market analysis and research
  • BA in marketing, market research, analytics, social sciences, business or communications
  • Strong math and analytical skills
  • Consumer category experience. Media sector experience preferred.
  • Inquisitive and collaborative with a positive attitude, strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic media environment.
  • Mastery of understanding, processing, extracting value from, visualizing and communicating data effectively.​
