Job Description

KVUE is looking for a versatile Marketing Brand Manager who understands creative vision with a business mindset for promotion. Duties include managing the staff on a day to day basis, writing, lighting, shooting, editing news promos, and original content profile pieces for the KVUE brand. This is not a one-skill, specialty job.

You will be responsible for the development, execution and performance of brand-and-buzz- building strategies while pushing boundaries to achieve results including on-air ratings, digital- audience growth, revenue, and brand health. You must have experience in news topical promotion and brand campaigns to help boost our ratings and presence on all platforms, not just TV. You will create different types of content for social, web, and broadcast based on best practices and KPIs. Working for a news station is a pace not suitable for all, so a flexible, positive attitude is essential to this role. Tight deadlines are a reality of the job. Attention to detail is imperative.

You will serve as our brand ambassador as the right-hand woman or man to the director of marketing. As a key leader within the organization, taking ownership of a focused multi-platform strategic marketing plan, you will push boundaries and exceed the needs of our audience, customers, and community. You will collaborate on the development and execution of that plan and own its results.

Additional components of this position include:

  • Leading and inspiring a team of talented creatives. You will ensure the team remains a high-performing unit. They will grow in their careers via training, ongoing feedback, development opportunities, and regular performance
  • Managing creative processes including but not limited to: facilitating collaborative brainstorming, writing creative briefs, providing creative feedback, and listening to the ideas of others with a sense of how any given project/potential idea may play out in the marketplace.
  • Producing effective presentations that sell a given strategy, tell a story and persuasively sell-in concepts, strategies and tactics to all department
  • Working closely with the local revenue team on innovative campaigns that fulfill client needs, drive client results and increase the generation of non-traditional/new business revenue.
  • Collaborating regularly with content leaders on audience development strategies.
  • Applying data, analytics and insights to marketing campaigns that promote sweeps, content partnerships, digital products, community partnerships and more.
  • Serving as a key leader in the development and implementation of plans that unite and align content, sales, community and social.
  • Creating data-driven, targeted and integrated media plans that leverage off-channel spends, trade partners, co-op budgets and other tactics.

  • Minimum of three years consumer marketing experience with a promotion-specific record of success in any of the following: broadcast, cable, digital or agency (marketing/digital/advertising).
  • Must understand the value of promotions placement across multiple mediums as a fundamental driver in executing the brand strategy.
  • Television experience preferred but not required. College degree in marketing, advertising, journalism, social media, or film preferred.
  • Must be familiar with Canon DSLRs and Sony FS7s, or similar cameras. If you’ve never operated a camera, this job is not for you.
  • Proficient in software like Final Cut Pro, Premiere, Photoshop, and After Effects to produce high-quality, high-impact creative.
  • A planner by nature, able to operate with a sense of urgency in the present and be constantly looking six to 18 months out to bring organization, order, and planning to the larger marketing team.
  • Real-time, multi-platform marketing experience with proven record of marketing content on linear and non-linear platforms.
  • Using research and applying sound strategy, develop and execute creative concepts via on-air news promos, station image campaigns, original content, and graphic design. Campaigns should deliver a clear message and reinforce the value of the station and/or client’s brand.
  • Guiding the overall look/tone/feel of creative campaigns through writing, shooting and editing on-air spots and other marketing materials.
  • Possessing the skills to create innovative concepts – with strong writing skills to back it all up.
  • Ability to spot trends and build future-proof strategies that grow audiences amidst rapidly-changing content, technology, societal, and consumer landscapes.
  • Insight-driven with an ability to work with local and corporate research teams, data analytics platforms (Google Analytics, Chartbeat, Crowdtangle, Tableau) and third-party vendors to garner insights and translate those into effective, measurable marketing strategies.
  • Strong management track record with demonstrated success leading a brand-centric, multiplatform creative team as well as proven ability to manage up and across in collaborative fashion.
  • Experience creating and measuring integrated advertising campaigns supported by an outstanding creative ability and an exceptional portfolio
  • Ability to work with a sense of urgency within a deadline-oriented, fast-paced team environment, juggling multiple projects and priorities at once
  • Work under pressure, develop production plans and realistic timetables, manage multiple activities and prioritize deadlines, collaborate productively and positively with internal personnel and external partners and apply strategic thinking, identify clear priorities and meet goals, work continually toward self-development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Able to be the conduit to cross departmental boundaries.
  • Ability to pitch and present concepts and campaigns to key clients and news content leadership and analyze results.
  • Comfortable working non-traditional hours in breaking-news situations.
