JOB DESCRIPTION
5NEWS is looking for a Meteorologist to join the #1 weather team in the market.
From our new state-of-the-art studio in NW Arkansas, you'll deliver weathercasts, tell weather stories, and host/co host our franchise Adventure Arkansas.
To do this, you need to know how to creatively shoot, write, edit stories that are weather, science, or outdoor related.
Additionally, the right candidate will be digital savvy and responsible for contributing daily content to weather blogs, pushes, live-streams, as well as all social platforms.
This person will be an integral part of severe weather coverage and must be capable of sustaining long-form continuous coverage for severe weather events & winter storms for hours at a time; or in some cases days.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Build accurate weather forecasts using a variety of numerical weather prediction models.
Convey the "weather story of the day" in a clear and concise manner that's understood by our audience.
Produce a weekly Adventure Arkansas segment for on-air and online.
Daily updates on all digital platforms including social media.
Communicate the weather story to our newsroom staff and help define the level of urgency for each event.
