Job Description

ABC10 (the TEGNA station in Sacramento) is seeking an experienced Show Producer to join our innovative Morning Blend team. We’re looking for a journalist/storyteller who is relentless in producing engaging content each morning for all of our platforms (digital and broadcast). 

ABC10 is not just a TV station, we are an information network showcasing real and relevant content and delivering that content to our consumers where they are at, wherever that might be. Morning Blend is a unique morning show that takes pride in bringing viewers the day’s headlines in a fun and interactive way. The show is a perfect "blend" of news, weather, traffic and entertainment and we take pride in making our viewers part of the show every day. This team member will set the bar others want to follow when it comes to producing this one-of-a-kind show. Morning Blend producers must be able to identify and produce engaging and shareable content and showcase stories in a way that differentiates us from our competitors. Our producers need to have a strong journalistic base, excel with conversational writing, are comfortable thinking outside the box and be able to multitask under deadline.  

Expectations:

  • Create unique shows and segments evoking emotion and innovative showcasing
  • Write and edit stories for broadcast and digital platforms
  • Develop content through social listening and independent sources
  • Skillfully use social media and digital tools to research, discover and distribute content
  • Use the latest editing and photography tools to tell great stories
  • Research facts and sources’ credibility
  • Use consumer analytics in determining content
  • Write and post daily on digital platforms including social media
  • Enterprise story ideas and create ways to include user generated content into shows
  • Use creative production techniques such as graphics and new forms of media to enhance stories
  • Lead and inspire news teams to work together for memorable shows
  • Coach and inspire on air talent to be exciting and engaging
  • Perform other tasks as required by supervisor or executive producer

 

Job Requirements

Requirements:

  • BA/BS in journalism, communications or related field
  • 1-3 years of experience preferred
  • Experience in editing, and content management systems
  • Understanding the tenets of professional journalism
  • Skills in producing engaging, content-driven newscasts and digital content
  • Strong social media skills, including an active news hound presence on Twitter and Facebook
  • Knowledge of ENPS, Edius and Axis graphics a plus
  • Organizational skills and the ability to work under constant time pressure deadlines
  • Ability to calmly handle live, breaking news situations and changing events
