Multi-Skilled & Visuals Intern

Date Posted: 3/19/2018

Job Description

Multi-Skilled & Visuals (1 Student).  Likely the biggest learning curve for students when they get that first job at today’s television stations is learning to excel as a Multi-Media Journalist.  We are creating a brand-new internship this summer for a student who thinks he/she wants to become an off-air MSJ.   This opportunity is not about getting on air or reporting reps – it’s for the student who wants to learn the art of photography with ‘real-time’ news coverage, combined with the ability to get the video back and then write copy and edit your work to make the deadline. Students should be able to operate a television field camera and be a solid editor – this is more of an advanced internship.

Job Requirements

Knowledge of go pros, setting up multiple camera shoots and drone technology is a plus. The student will need to drive to shoot locations daily in a 12 News vehicle, so you must have a clean driving record. To be considered:  You must be enrolled in a journalism program, and be at either a Junior or Senior.  You also must be able to devote 20 hours a week to this internship. Pay rate:  $12.50 per hour.
