Job Description

KXTV/ABC10 in Sacramento, CA is looking for a motivated, innovative leader to drive the gathering, creation, and distribution of engaging, compelling content, with a focus on our broadcast shows. The Multi-Platform Storytelling Lead will work collaboratively as part of the news leadership team and play a key role in continuing to grow the station’s content and audience-first strategy.

 Here in Sacramento, our audience is smart and very plugged in. To succeed, we believe our content needs to stand out on all platforms. Our ideal candidate can identify engaging content and unique presentation styles, teach others how to do so, and find new ways to create content that is relevant to our audiences, all with a focus on changing our traditional newscast formats.

 We need someone who can inspire the entire news team to go beyond the national package inserts and produce enterprise content as a priority, tailoring to a digital audience first, but translating for TV.

 The Multi-Platform Storytelling Lead will:

  • Encourage innovation, risk-taking and powerful storytelling in crafting great newscasts
  • Be a newsroom leader and a bold voice in editorial discussions
  • Challenge the norm and break formats
  • Use creative production techniques such as graphics and new forms of media to enhance content across all platforms
  • Oversee multiple newscasts to ensure the brand promise and strategies are met
  • Regularly critique newscasts with the staff, both as a team and with individual producers
  • Identify daily opportunities to have our news get noticed and reach new audiences
  • Actively partner with the Content Director and other newsroom leadership to create multi-platforms strategies for all content (TV, digital, social)
  • Perform other tasks as required by the Content Director



Job Requirements


  • More than 5 years’ experience successfully leading teams through content transformation
  • Strong understanding of the tenets of professional journalism
  • Passion and vision for emerging media
  • Knowledge of ENPS, Edius, photojournalism, editing, and content management systems
  • Knowledge of social media curation tools and other content discovery tools (Dataminr, Topic Pulse, Banjo)
  • Organizational skills and the ability to work under constant time-sensitive deadlines
  • Understanding of digital analytics and analytics tools
  • BA/BS in journalism, communications or related field
