Job Description

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Vice President/Station Manager, the Newsroom Assistant is responsible for the following:

  • Provides administrative support to the Vice President/Station Manager of WUSA to include answering phone; opening daily mail and maintaining travel schedules.
  • Coordinates and oversees office operations: opens office for business; ensures training schedules for all new staff; makes all travel arrangements; makes all Newsroom meeting/catering arrangements; maintains inventory of office equipment and refresh schedules; orders office supplies;
  • Compiles and distributes Newsroom’s Internal Daily Calendar;
  • Tracks departmental overtime and expenses/copies/pays/files invoices.
  • Qualified candidates must be able to react to change productively and have the ability to multi-task will meeting deadlines.
  • Must be able to handle other essential tasks as assigned.

                                                            

 

Job Requirements

Requirements of the position include:

  • Position requires 1-2 years’ experience in administrative support in a corporate environment;
  • Technical training or equivalent in office administration; college or business school a plus or equivalent work experience. 
  • Proficiency in MS word, excel, access and accurate mathematics.
  • Excellent organizational skills;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines;
  • Ability to work independently/in a self-directed manner;
  • Team player and flexibility a must.
