Job Description

WFAA in Dallas is looking for a Political Content Producer/Coordinator for its Inside Texas Politics program. This person must have a firm grasp on the political landscape in Texas on all levels from national storylines to trending local political news.  This person should have experience producing on-air segments or newscasts and must be an organized, skillful communicator, who is able to manage several projects at once.  You must be digitally savvy and know how to use social media to drive and support content.  You must be creative with cross-platform strategy and know how to utilize our political content to make news on all platforms.  This role will be responsible for coordinating content across multiple newsrooms in Tegna Texas, booking interviews with high ranking political figures and overseeing the full production process of the program. Experience with political debates a plus.

Requirements 

  • ‚ÄčLead teams in the statewide coordination of content to produce a weekly politics program

  • Stay apprised of trending political stories both in Texas and abroad

  • Produce segments and/or programs for all platforms including on-air newscasts
  • Coordinate political special projects including debates
  • Work collaboratively to perform tasks as required by the Executive News Director and Director of Content and Strategy
  • Identify trending topics and the appropriate voices to engage with on our political show
  • See the potential for ITP in other venues that help extend the brand
  • Be responsible for the website presence of ITP, developing engaging headlines, selecting imagery and videoclips and strategically placing content across digital platforms throughout the week to maximize audience engagement and brand appeal
  • Skillfully use social media and digital tools to research, discover and distribute content

Job Requirements

Job Requirements 

  • 3+ years producing experience preferred
  • Working political coverage history in professional background
  • Examples of cross-platform experience in professional background
  • Experience leading teams through content transformation
  • Strong understanding of the tenets of professional journalism
  • Knowledge of ENPS and content management systems a plus
  • Organizational skills and the ability to work under constant time-sensitive deadlines
  • BA/BS in journalism, communications or related a plus
