Job Description

KGW is looking for a Content Coordinator to help identify and produce enterprise segments that run on KGW’s morning newscast and other KGW platforms. This position is integral to the success of KGW News at Sunrise and our goal of bringing our audience unique, compelling and engaging content. 

The content coordinator is one of KGW’s primary contacts with the community and represents KGW to city leaders, business owners, entertainment management and just average people as they work together on our coverage. In many respects, this person is the voice of KGW and the Sunrise show in the community.                                

We are looking for a self-motivated team player who has excellent organizational, planning and strategic-thinking skills. This person must be flexible with schedule and be able to adjust workdays and work hours on short notice if necessary.    

Job duties as assigned include the following:    

  • Editorial calendar planning, development and tracking for KGW Sunrise, 4PM and 7PM shows.
  • Identify key audiences and communities, research stories and content that matters to them, create programming and live events to support targeted initiatives. 
  • Oversee enterprise content for programming including live events, features, specials and daily live in-studio segments. 
  • Collaborate with promotions and marketing departments to highlight coverage of the week; coordinate materials and video for promotional use. 
  • Find and book ten live entertainment or lifestyle segments each week for evening programs. 
  • Log and write program content as needed.
  • Conduct regular content review of programming.
  • Coordinate with news department for resources and staffing. 
  • Should be familiar with ENPS, Edius and newsroom systems.

 

 

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in journalism, film, fine arts or equivalent
  • Two years experience line producing
  • Strong leadership, writing and organizational skills
  • An understanding of audience flow and meter strategy is needed
  • Desktop video editing and graphics production skills using server-based digital video systems are required
  • Demonstrated proficiency in using social media for news gathering, crowd sourcing, and interaction with viewers and sources
  • Engaged and active in social media including: Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
  • Knowledge of Portland and Oregon is helpful in this position but not required
