What You’ll Do:

This Product Manager will be responsible for TEGNA’s home-grown, digital CMS used by hundreds of reporters in over 40 newsrooms across the country. In this role, you will define and refine our exciting proprietary editorial tools. You will work closely with our reporters in the field, our internal software design and development teams, and our QA teams in an Agile environment. You will be responsible for defining user stories, specifying acceptance criteria, grooming backlogs, helping to prioritize features, and conducting user acceptance testing. You will be the face of a critical application that has been radically transforming TEGNA’s newsrooms and editorial workflows since being introduced.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop an expert understanding of our current and ideal editorial workflows
  • Work closely with our newsrooms, proactively identify user needs and pain points to inform the product roadmap
  • Write clear/concise requirement documents and be an engaged member on our Agile Scrum team
  • Help shape features through thoughtful data collection, insightful observations, and careful analysis
  • Assist in Quality Assurance for new features
  • Create customer-facing documentation and guide Knowledge Management, Training, and Support
  • Proactively manage and prioritize a backlog while keeping in mind the priorities of various stakeholders
  • Communicate between developers, designers, and our newsrooms regarding goals and requirements
  • Pitch new ideas and provide progress updates to leadership
  • Advocate for new features to the field
  • Build relationships with key internal stakeholders both at the corporate level and in the newsrooms

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to set aggressive goals and achieve results
  • Understanding of journalism, digital workflow, and the current media landscape
  • Analytical and strategic in the way you approach and solve problems
  • Hands-on experience with web technologies
  • Knowledge of project management tools
  • Able to accurately handle multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organization, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Able to work well independently and as a member of a larger team
  • Exceptional collaborator and communicator (written, verbal)
  • Up-to-date and knowledgeable about the latest trends, innovations, and media best practices
