Job Description (KPNX-TV, NBC) in Phoenix is looking for social media and audience engagement mad scientist. Have news in your DNA? Take chances? Learn from your mistakes? You might be the person we’re looking for to help lead our coverage as our Senior Social Content Producer.

You want to try new approaches to storytelling and technology – and you’re self-aware enough to learn the lessons if they don’t work. You believe that you have to earn your audience every day – and you won’t stop at anything to do that.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Direct and supervise a team that works in social media and engages the audience across platforms.
  • Respond in real-time to audience questions and comments across all 12 News platforms
  • Aggressively cover breaking news for digital/social platforms through push alerts, live streams, social posts and web articles
  • Use social media strategically to elevate talent and station platforms
  • Analyze digital and social metrics to optimize strategy and efforts
  • Monitor social chatter and track trending stories via Chartbeat, Crowdtangle, Google Trends and our social platforms
  • Work with all newsroom departments on content coverage, broadcast-digital coordination and social listening
  • Assist reporters and anchors in the creation of native social content
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or equivalent experience
  • At least four years of professional digital journalism experience
  • At least one year of people-management experience
  • The ability to prioritize tasks in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment
  • The ability to change directions quickly
  • Experience with analytics across platforms
  • Experience posting to and monitoring multiple social media channels
  • Demonstrated experience working with reporters and producers to find and create content for all platforms.
  • Basic image and video editing skills.
