Do you thrive on digging for stories, breaking news and connecting with the community?  KFMB Stations - a TEGNA media company located in San Diego, CA - is looking for a Social Media Coordinator​ to join our growing award-winning team. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment and loves news and working on the cutting edge of digital and social media. We are looking for a dynamic social media expert to help engage our audience with our broadcast show content and talent on multiple platforms. This person should react quickly to breaking news and social trends and actively listen to the content needs of our larger group.

The ideal candidate has worked at a digital media company or has prior experience as the social media representative of a company. They love creating video, analyzing metrics, and coaching teammates.


  • Writing and positioning daily content posts across station websites, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other channels for multiple accounts
  • Assists in the creative direction of the company's social media strategy on IG (feed and stories), Facebook, LinkedIn, blog, etc.
  • Plan, craft, publish, and monitor posts on social channels such as Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram
  • Help coach on-air talent with their social presence
  • Assist and train talent and other content team members on social media best practices
  • Execute original editorial, graphic design and video assets
  • Identify compelling, unique stories and user-generated content of interest to our audience
  • Monitor and engage in day-to-day social media conversations
  • Keep a well-documented publishing schedule and calendar
  • Create weekly and monthly social media analytics reports
  • Identify new trends and products in social media, and test and advocate for change as needed
  • Execute multi-platform content plans for major events, promotions, and projects

Job Requirements


Here’s what you need: 

  • 2- 3 years of experience producing custom social content and managing brand social accounts
  • Track record of driving brand awareness, audience growth, reach, and engagement using organic and paid social media
  • Keen eye for visual storytelling through photo and video
  • Experience developing and creating visuals and video optimized for sharing
  • Strong Mac and PC software/OS proficiency
  • Ability to work independently and multi-task confidently under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, nights, weekends and holiday shifts is a must.
  • Excellent communication skills: writing, editing, and proofreading skills
