Social Media Coordinator

Job Description

TEGNA is looking for a social media coordinator with experience managing social brands to join our digital audience team as a temporary employee. This person will help execute the social media strategy for TEGNA’s original content verticals and provide social media support to our TV stations across 41 markets. The social media coordinator must be highly organized with clear communication skills, and comfortable working in a fast paced environment.

In this role, you will:

  • Manage social media pages for TEGNA content verticals (ex. HeartThreads) including:
    • Plan and execute social marketing campaigns
    • Edit and approve social media copy
    • Track and report social analytics
    • Respond to audience messages and comments
    • Serve as “brand gatekeeper” 
  • Create daily content for TEGNA’s commerce vertical, DEALBOSS
  • Support TEGNA stations with platform outages, verifications, etc.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or equivalent experience in the field
  • 3-5 years in social media management or content marketing preferred
  • Strong understanding of various social platforms and their advertising options
  • Strong writing and editing
  • Experience launching or growing new social media brands
  • Incredible eye for detail
  • Solid editorial and social media judgement
  • Ability to work outside of normal business hours
