Job Description

WLTX is looking to hire an intern with strong knowledge and understanding of the digital media landscape and sports coverage. The intern who fills this position will serve a pivotal role in our working newsroom. They will not be watching news happen, but will be trained, coached and mentored on how to become a news leader in innovation and storytelling. They will spend Friday nights as a part of our 'Blitz team'. WLTX's 'Friday Night Blitz' highlights high school football games throughout the Midlands. Members of the Blitz team will drive all throughout the Midlands' 11 counties showcasing the talents of young athletes and the atmosphere in high school sports stadiums. Their content will be used on all WLTX news platforms. The intern will leave this position with experience creating innovative, interactive and relevant local sports content for all platforms, while building their own personal portfolio. 

 

Job Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Compile social media information
  • Write and create multiple memorable sports stories as a multi-skilled journalist
  • Shoot, log and edit high-action video to create compelling, much-watch segments
  • Create content that can live on all platforms (web, social, broadcast)​
