Job Description


WUSA9, in Washington, D.C. has an immediate opening for a fact-checking journalist interested in politics and current events. This role will offer the opportunity for an investigative researcher to work with staff in D.C. and across all Company markets.


Assignments include fact-checking, investigative research and creating digital articles to present research and "VERIFY" fact-checks to different communities. Your role will include daily fact-checks of speeches, campaign ads, viral videos and memes, and other posts by tracking down original sources, original documents and vetted experts. 

Job Requirements


  • A Bachelors' Degree in Journalism, Political Science or other applicable fields. 
  • Passion for storytelling, strong writing, and social media skills. 
  • Ability to cultivate sources and conduct high-level original research.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • The ability to work under daily deadline
  • Willingness to innovate and keep current on latest research methods and tools
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and available to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends if necessary.​
