JOB DESCRIPTION

WXIA-TV, a TEGNA owned company, and the NBC affiliate in Atlanta, GA, has an immediate opening for an experienced Video Editor/Graphics. This position works closely with producers and reporters in the newsroom. Video producers are responsible for creatively presenting on-air and digital stories through editing. Candidate must possess excellent communication and organizational skills; must work well under pressure, within a team environment and have the ability to think outside-the-box when it comes to creating graphics, animations and editing.    

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Must contain a creative visual eye.

  • Must have excellent design and some animations skills.
  • Candidate must acquire the ability to produce a high quality multi-layered edited piece within a short timeline.
  • Ability to collaborate with multiple departments when needed.
  • Ability to multi-task, handle editing assignments, capturing feeds, sending and receiving material, while constantly monitoring quality control.    
  • Tune and take in live feeds, organize them for quick access and manage quality control.
  • Experience in a local newsroom is a must.
  • Edit news and feature stories, voiceovers, teases and other video elements for live shows and pre-taped specials as needed.
  • Perform other production duties as assigned.

 

 

Job Requirements

Requirements:

Determine good audio and picture quality; ability to edit with continuity and creativity on non-linear systems. Edius editing experience a plus.

Skills in Adobe products (Photoshop, After Effects, Cinema 4D) preferred.

Must be team oriented, have a positive attitude, possess good computer skills and strong communication skills. Strong spelling and grammar skills.

Strong customer service and communication skills.

Able to perform under very tight deadlines; ability to multitask and prioritize multiple needs simultaneously.

Able to react to change productively.

Must be able to work a flexible schedule including holidays, evenings, mornings, weekends and occasional overtime.

College degree with at least two years of newsroom experience.

Experience in tuning in live shots a plus.

Associate or Bachelor degree preferred.

Broadcast experience required.
