We are looking for an experienced, dynamic, social media savvy Weather Anchor. We want someone who knows how to work with WSI that can take the system beyond the basics. This person should be an aggressive voice that leads editorial discussions about weather coverage locally, nationally and the environment.  Someone with a love of weather trivia who gathers the data and creates great, eye catching visualizations.

Brief Description of Duties

This Weather Anchor is responsible for anchoring, covering breaking news, field anchoring, reporting and event coverage.  Must attend editorial meetings and participate in newscast production.   Will be required to maintain a social media presence on a consistent basis and be aggressive about updating our weather web experience. Will participate in community functions for the benefit of the stations.  May be asked to shoot and edit video.

Job Requirements

Qualifications 

  • College meteorology degree with CBM, AMS and/or NWA credentials strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of four years’ anchor experience in a medium to large market.
  • Must possess dynamic on-camera skills with a memorable personality.  Strong ad-lib skills are essential.
  • Must have excellent communication skills and demonstrate solid news judgment.
  • Must be able to work in a collaborative weather team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and a heavy workload.
  • Working knowledge of WSI would be preferable.
  • Familiarity with all distribution platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Web, etc.  
  • Good understanding of operating video equipment desired.
  • Attend community events as needed.
