​5NEWS is looking for an experienced broadcast Weekday Morning Meteorologist to join the market’s top weather team. The right candidate needs to be energetic, entertaining, & engaging to tell an easy-to-understand forecast each weekday morning and in each Noon newscast.  We’re seeking a dynamic meteorologist to add to continue our tradition of excellence as the area's highest rated morning newscast. Shooting and editing skills a plus. We’re looking for someone who has the passion to pursue stories for our newscasts when they are not anchoring weather.​


​​You need to do it all: television, online, social networking and community outreach. We’ve got state-of-the-art HD weather graphics in a state-of-the-art new facility in Northwest Arkansas. All the tools are here! The person we’re looking for will work the morning shift where a dynamic personality is an absolute must. You must be able to forecast and cover severe weather. We’re seeking a great storyteller who uses all the technology to create dynamic, compelling weather segments, on-air and online. The successful candidate for this position also should be well-versed in all aspects of today’s reporting landscape, from writing to shooting and editing with state-of-the-art HD equipment. Strong reporting and storytelling skills are a big plus. Be ready to tackle every sort of weather you can imagine from winter's ice storms to spring's tornadoes along with an occasional tropical system, earthquake, or river flood.​

Job Requirements

Bachlor's degree in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, Geoscience, or related field with an emphasis on weather prediction & forecasting. An AMS or NWA sealed meteorologist with at least 3 years on-air experience is preferred. Strong live broadcast and live reporting skills are required. Strong web and digital skills are a must.
