We offer competitive compensation and benefits and are searching for innovative people to join our teams.   Tetra Tech Inc. is currently seeking a NACE certified Coatings Inspector to work in the Collinsville, Illinois office (or approved alternate location).

This position will support the implementation of Tetra Tech's Construction projects throughout the United States. The successful candidate will conduct various aspects of quality control and inspection activities associated with the oversight and management of both field and shop level industrial coating activities on fuel storage tanks, dispensing systems and other steel structures.  This is a full-time position with benefits.   Job Requirements: Serves as Tetra Tech’s agent for execution on and off site management of industrial coating processes and protocols including off-site work planning, on-site coating activity surveillance, superintendence and quality control inspections.  Successful applicant will ensure coating projects are completed in concert with NACE, SSPC and UFGS, coating work plans, client statements of work and contract requirements. Typical activities will include:
  • Minimum NACE Level III or current NACE Level II with pre-requisite experience needed for NACE Level III certification;
  • Serve as the Site Quality Control Manager in accordance with the Project Quality Control Plan primarily for coating activities;
  • Serve (when needed) in on-site role when needed as Site Construction / Health and Safety Manager primarily but not limited to coating of fuel system assets;
  • Off-site support of coatings work plan development in concert with manufacturers specifications and prevailing standards;
  • On-site NACE superintendence, super surveillance and hold point inspections of subcontracted coating activities;
  • Utilization of Microsoft Office Suite and other similar applications to plan, document and report coating work and NACE inspections in accordance with the project and industry standards;
  • Maintains effective communications with on-site clients, subcontractors and Tetra Tech’s Project Manager;
  • Ensures Subcontractor adherence to all typical and specified requirements associated with field and shop coating actions;
  • Implements plans and monitors work activities to ensure project execution supports compliance internal and external timelines and objectives;
  • Conducts on-site meetings with the client and subcontractors  as required;  Liaises with government Quality Assurance inspectors as required;
  • Prepares project Quality Control documents and reports in accordance with establish plans; and
  • Perform various other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Preferred Skills, Training and Education
  • Ability to obtain or maintain a government security clearance, and/or Favorable Background Investigation (BI) is required
  • Five years of experience working on fixed oil or petroleum product handing systems;
  • Two years of direct field experience with DoD Petroleum Oil and Lubrication (POL) facilities;
  • Ability to read and interpret construction project drawings and specifications; 
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook ;
  • Current Certification from Unites States Army Corps of Engineers or United Sates Navy Quality Control for Construction Contractors (or other recognized agency); and
  • HS Graduate (or equivalency).
