Tetra Tech is currently seeking an Operations Manager for our Sacramento, CA office location.

The selected candidate will lead and manage the growth of our Sacramento operation. This will include leading the strategy, development, capture, and execution of environmental projects targeting the commercial market sector while meeting operational growth objectives and metrics. This position requires a successful record of providing operational leadership, collaborative team building, managing client relationships, developing work programs for these clients, leadership in program/project management of work, and supporting the development of existing and new client growth strategies. The candidate must have experience in environmental services, such as compliance and permitting; site investigation/assessment/design and remediation; property redevelopment; communication and negotiation with federal, state and local regulatory agencies, and/or other commercial client experience. Experience in preparing proposals, work plans, and cost estimates for projects and a demonstrated ability to manage projects and groups profitably. Presentation experience at conferences and workshops and demonstrated networking capability (locally and regionally/nationally) is desired. 

The successful candidate must be a motivated seller/doer with group management experience with the following qualifications: Currently manages commercial customers, delivers high quality work products, has the ability to grow and mentor staff, produce positive financial results, has industry connections; and has strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Manage the Sacramento Office Operations.
• Develop and meet Annual Operating Plan for the Sacramento Operation.
• Manage overhead spending and staff utilization.
• Conduct staff performance reviews and evaluations.
• Manage clients and participate in project work.
• Assess market conditions and trends, and apply this knowledge to anticipate the scope and timing of major market movements and prospective pursuits.
• Collaborate with other Tetra Tech offices and develop and implement growth strategies.
• Lead the identification and prioritization of pursuits and secure projects in northern California and the Pacific Northwest.
• Program/Project management responsibilities may include preparing cost and technical proposals, effectively and efficiently completing projects on time and within budget and regulatory guidelines, maintaining good client communications, scheduling and supervising subcontractor activities, and writing and reviewing reports.


Job Requirements

Requirements & Preferred Experience:
• 10+ years’ experience in environmental consulting services with at least five years of experience in staff or group management, program/project management, business development, and strategic planning focused on the commercial and private market sector.
• Prior experience in evaluating and managing staff and achievement of financial metrics on a project, group, or office level.
• Successful track record in the commercial and private market industry with the ability to attract new business.
• Relationships within the commercial and private market sector.
• Ability to develop and deliver effective presentations to customers and management.

Education Requirements:
• BS degree in geology, hydrology, engineering, science or a related technical field is required. Advanced degree is preferred.
• Professional registration, i.e. Professional Engineer (PE), Professional Geologist (PG), Certified Hydrogeologist (CHG), or other related professional registration, is preferred.
