Overview:

Job Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate all Tool Room machines and equipment efficiently, including grinders, lathes, milling machines, drill presses, saws, planers, sanders, and welding equipment (MIG, TIG, arc, and acetylene).

  • Skillfully use machinist and patternmaker hand tools, along with precision measuring instruments.

  • Fabricate, assemble, and repair metal, plastic, and wood parts, tools, jigs, fixtures, master patterns, core boxes, and dies from prints, sketches, or templates.

  • Construct, calibrate, and set gauges and precision measuring instruments.

  • Sharpen tools and maintain accuracy to a minimum tolerance of .001.

  • Maintain equipment and work areas in a clean, safe, and orderly condition.

  • Perform additional job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or group leader.

  • Work independently with minimal instruction or supervision.

Skills and Experience:

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required

  • Completion of a Patternmaker Apprenticeship Program

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a toolroom environment

  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and design models

  • Excellent fine motor skills and strong attention to detail

  • Ability to work accurately under deadlines

  • Dependable with consistent attendance and adherence to company policies

  • Willingness to work overtime as needed

  • Physically fit: able to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly

  • Comfortable working in a union shop

  • Preferred: Experience with CNC mill and/or RAM EDM setup and operation
