Ōnin Staffing is seeking a dependable and motivated Technician Aid to join a growing team in Birmingham. This is a great entry-level opportunity for someone eager to build a hands-on career in diesel repair and fleet maintenance.
What You’ll Do:
- Assist diesel technicians with inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on trucks, trailers, and diesel engines
- Perform basic maintenance tasks like oil changes, fluid checks, tire changes, tarp repairs, and brake inspections
- Help troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues under technician supervision
- Keep tools and the shop area clean and organized
- Retrieve and prepare parts for ongoing repairs and installations
- Follow all safety protocols while operating tools and equipment
- Document repair activities as directed
- Assist with loading/unloading trucks when needed
- Learn diesel engine systems through on-the-job training
Work Experience
Qualifications & Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training preferred
- Basic knowledge of mechanical tools and automotive repair
- Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in various weather conditions
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills
- Valid driver's license (CDL is a plus, but not required)
- Previous experience in an automotive or trucking shop is a plus, but not required
