SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the VP of Engineering, this will be a key individual in the company to lead the design of complex engineering technologies, processes, or equipment, including generating specifications for the assembly and manufacturing methods for Composite Aerostructures.  Activities may include the conceptualization of manufacturing and assembly processes for flight worthy composite laminated structures and launching their production onto the shop floor. Using sound engineering principles in mechanical design, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics, the Distinguished Engineer carries out analysis and conducts presentations with suppliers and both internal and external customers to obtain input on, consensus with, and understanding of project objectives and schedules. Works independently to gather data and input on the development of original designs or adaptations of existing designs after having been given general instructions regarding purpose and parameters. Participates in the initial studies and cost estimates for proposed projects and suggests changes to facilitate manufacture and assembly. May supervise other engineers in the accomplishment of projects or assignments. May be required to travel to customer or supplier sites. All other duties as assigned.

Ability to quickly review large amounts of technical drawings, specifications, requirements (including contractual language) and ensure compliance in all activities assigned.
Industry leading theoretical and practical knowledge of Prepreg layup processes, resin transfer molding processes and their associated tooling and manufacturing methods.
Is capable of writing detailed AS9100 and Nadcap compliant work instructions for hand layup, press/oven/autoclave curing, and assembly processes which can be followed by technicians to manufacture a compliant and flight worthy assembly.

Job Requirements


EDUCATION and or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor of Arts degree BA or Bachelor of Science degree BS from four year college or university or eight years related experience and or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Individual must be technically outstanding in his her professional field
Should exhibit significant contribution to the industry through efforts in other areas such as civic, education, patents, papers, etc.
Must have proven shop floor liaison experience and hands on composite lamination and assembly.
Proven history of practical prototyping of processes, tooling, and floor layout and then launching products into production
Must have experience in all manufacturing engineering functions (process design, work instruction generation, material selection, tooling, fabrication, etc.) working to Aerospace OEM or Tier 1 work scopes. 
Must have a significant documented technical achievement
Must be recognized by industry peers as an expert in discipline
Previously held a senior position of Staff Engineer, Technical Fellow, or similar with outstanding performance for a minimum of five years
