Providing solutions across a range of military, civil and related high integrity systems including C4ISR, data links, weapon interfacing, vetronics, safety critical systems, electro-optical surveillance, tracking and gunfire control, navigation systems and data distribution and networking systems.  Ultra Electronics prides itself on developing long term relationships with its customers providing support for equipment throughout its service life and often beyond.

Job purpose

 

The Goods Inwards Inspector is responsible for ensuring that the incoming parts and material are appropriate inspected to ensure that the specification and requirements are met.  The inspection may include the assessment to industry recognized standards or through inspection against internally generated engineering drawings or specifications.  Any defects deviations or errors will be reported through the QA department for onwards actions or disposition, with the assistance of the GII as necessary. To assess the condition of incoming parts and material.

 

Key responsibilities

The Goods Inwards Inspector is responsible for ensuring that parts, materials and equipment, which pass through his/her control, are:

 

  • Inspected and handled in accordance with company operating standards.

  • Rejected and controlled as non-conforming materials in accordance with operating standards In addition to the above the Goods Inwards Inspector shall:

  • Work with QA, Production, ME and Engineering to determine most practicable GII criteria and methods.

  • Provision of advice to Engineering with regard to capability of the GII equipment.

  • React to day to day problems associated with the operation of his/her responsibilities.

  • Maintain the quarantine store.

  • Report of non-conforming parts or material to QA department.

  • Provide statistical information to establish GII KPIs.

  • Provide training to UECSS personnel on equipment and procedures in direct support of GII activities.

  • Identify areas where new Standards or Procedures may be required.

  • Conform and comply with all current Health & Safety Regulations.

  • Comply with internal procedures relating to security of stores and stock, and to the stores function for which he/she has been assigned.

  • Maintain compliance with established company procedures.

  • Provide guidance to staff temporarily seconded to his/her function as occasion demands.

  • Maintain Documentation Controls in support of the Goods Inwards Inspection processes to which he/she is assigned.

  • Communicate effectively with internal and external customers.

  • Undertake and complete additional tasks, as assigned by the QA Manufacturing Lead. Determining, and requesting, training in support of the job role

Personal attributes

  • Well-presented with a professional demeanour.
  • City & Guilds Certificate in Electro/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work related experience in a similar environment.
  • Measurement techniques

  • Engineering background

  • Understanding of Quality systems

  • Use of Faro Arm (Cam 2 measure 10 software)

  • Hand held measurement tools e.g. verniers and micrometers

  • Experience of working with sensitive material

·         Good level of verbal and written communication.
  • Good IT skills.

  • Good organization and planning ability.

  • Given 5 days’ notice, have the ability to be deployed to supplier and customer sites within the UK. Ability to work overtime when demand requires. Ability to work autonomously to determine work priorities.

  • Must be able to gain SC level clearance
