This key position directs, manages and coordinates all activities associated with manufacturing, manufacturing engineering, and facilities. This individual is responsible for efficient and economical manufacturing of a variety of complex electro-mechanical products in conformance with established goals and objectives. This individual is responsible for formulation and adherence to annual budgets for the manufacturing organization. Finally, as head of manufacturing, the director of manufacturing is expected to hire and develop personnel to help ensure the efficient operation of all aspects of manufacturing operations.  The director of manufacturing shall be an independent critical thinker capable of working autonomously and possessing effective oral and written communication and collaboration skills.  The director of mfg shall participate and work in a team environment with multiple participants, including government, military and other contractors/suppliers.
  • Participate in formulating and administering company policies and developing long range goals and objectives. This includes the direction, focus, and visualization of activities in responsible departments to further the overall progressive goals and objectives and monitor their progress.
  • Direct the company’s manufacturing activities to ensure maximum effectiveness is obtained for the production of quality products within a specified time and budgetary guidelines.
  • Accountable to ensure products meet or exceed customer quality standards and required delivery schedules are met.
  • Formulate processes to enable compliance with all applicable safety and environmental laws and policies as well as positioning for ISO.
  • Interface with Engineering, Program Management and Business Operations to coordinate planning for production of the entire product line.
  • Directs manufacturing/industrial engineering efforts to ensure company facilities, equipment and fixtures are adequately designed, built and maintained. Likewise, create strategies to reduce labor costs, reduce scrap, and ensure a product free of defects.
  • Provide leadership to continuous improvement and successfully enable scalability to achieve our goals of meeting quality, cost, and delivery objectives.
  • Create and implement new logistics models and processes that will drive all hardware product capabilities to benchmark levels (industry best practices) and meet current and future customer needs.
  • Lead the development and implementation of policies, plans and practices regarding product supply/demand and delivery and authorizes the implementation of strategy and policies.
  • Proactively work with product management, business development and engineering (development and QA) teams to provide manufacturing engineering support.
Required Skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 10+ years of experience managing teams is required
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing leadership position
  • Ability to obtain a US Government security clearance.  Security clearances are granted to U.S. citizens.

  • Extensive experience in production of complex products
  • Candidate will exhibit characteristics of a leader who is determined, results oriented, persuasive, and a strong communicator
