Position Overview:

This position is responsible for assisting experienced service technicians in order to develop mechanical skills. The ideal candidate will be motivated to succeed in their training, have previous experience in similar activities and long term aspirations to be a Shop or Field Service Mechanic. Additionally, they must be highly motivated, a quick learner and hard working person.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

  • Develop mechanical skills through assisting experienced service technicians and training in-house and through outside sources.
  • Clean tools, equipment and prepare parts for inspection by service technician or supervisor.
  • Maintains neat and organized work area.
  • Attends and pass classroom training sessions as assigned.
  • Operates hand tools, power tools, and equipment.
  • Performs manual labor.
  • Runs errands, carries and delivers materials, tools and equipment.
  • Regular attendance is an essential function of the job.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Ability to work effectively with others using good interpersonal skills.
  • Follow standard operating procedures and service manuals.
  • After training the apprentice should be able to perform the following tasks:
  1. Read precision measuring tools
  2. Valve grinder
  3. Seat grinder
  4. Hand tools
  5. Welding machines
  • Keep accurate records and complete documents accurately.
  • The ability to grasp new concepts quickly.

Education & Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items up to 70 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Other Criteria:

  • For insurance purposes must have a clean driving record and valid driver's license for the state they are driving in required.
  • Complies with Company policies and procedures.
  • Performs job safely with respect to others, to property and to individual safety.
  • Works effectively with others in the company to encourage teamwork and productivity.
