Job Description

Position Overview:

The Field Service Manager is responsible for the overall management and day to day operations of the Field Service Department. The Field Service Manager will ensure that technician services and dispatch functions are executed in an efficient, cost effective and timely manner.  Work involves ability to work independently with minimum supervision.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

  • Schedule and dispatch field service work.
  • Open and close field service repair orders.
  • Maintain logs and files.
  • Manage field service team to provide optimum customer service.
  • Develop workflow for the field service team.
  • Assist in goal setting, skill enhancement and performance reviews for field service staff.
  • Ensure company policies and procedures are followed by the team members.
  • Provide training to service staff as needed.
  • Develop programs to improve technical and customer service skills.
  • Identify and resolve employee concerns/complaints.
  • Develop and deliver in-house training for the employees regarding the service procedures and the company’s policies and procedures.
  • Supervise the overall functioning, especially of the servicing functions of the organization, and should be able to propose as well as negotiate service contracts.
  • Design strategies and ensure that all day to day services have been controlled and that all the clients’ needs have been tackled successfully.
  • Handle customer inquiries.
  • Regular attendance is an essential function of the job.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Computer literacy; proficiency in all MS Office applications.
  • Ability to communicate information and instructions clearly, accurately and concisely.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines with minimum supervision.
  • Strong communication skills to work with customers, suppliers, upper management and employees.
  • Must have excellent understanding of the technical terminology used in the engine and transmission industry.
  • Strong experience in scheduling and dispatching.
  • Accounting skills in order to run a profitable department.
  • Marketing knowledge to build a solid clientele.
  • Technical and mechanical skills.
  • Business-savvy personality.
  • Ability to spend long days on their feet.
  • Detail-oriented and trouble-shooting skills needed to make unusual diagnoses.
  • Excellent phone etiquette.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, customer-service oriented environment.

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or and equivalent combination of education.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • 5 (five) years Field Service/ Service Management experience required.

Travel:

  • Travel is primary local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area travel may be expected.

  • Performs job safely with respect to others, property and to individual safety.
  • Works effectively with others in the Company to encourage teamwork and productivity.
  • The employee can be depended on to report to work at the scheduled time and is seldom absent from work.
