Job Description

Position Overview:

This position is responsible for maintenance and performing all repairs on customer owned equipment. This will include PM Services, Department of Transportation Inspections/ Bi-annual Inspection of Terminals and other minor maintenance repairs. Candidate must be skilled in mechanical and electrical tasks. Requires ability to work with minimal supervision, interact with customers, perform On-Site estimates and complete reports accurately and in a timely manner. Valid Driver License and clean driving record is required.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

  • Diagnose and perform major and minor repairs to engines, involving inspection and replacement of broken or worn out parts; inspects, troubleshoots, diagnoses, repairs, cleans, adjusts and installs fuel, ignition, electrical and cooling systems involving repair and replacement of such parts as fuel pumps, fuel injectors, spark plugs, starter motors, distributors, alternators, generators, wiring switches, batteries, radiators, thermostats, water pumps, etc.
  • Performs safety inspections on vehicles to comply with relevant laws, codes and regulations.
  • Prepares and maintains records and reports of completed work.
  • Reads and interprets diagnostic trouble codes, manuals and specifications.
  • Inspects, services and repairs vehicle braking systems.
  • Must maintain excellent relationships with customers, both internal and external.
  • Regular attendance is an essential function of the job.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Strong technical/mechanical skills and experience required on all makes of trucks and trailers. Detroit and Freightliner product knowledge is helpful.
  • Must be able to read, write and understand service instructions.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • Must possess a valid Driver License and clear driving record.
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have experience dealing with customers in difficult situations, good phone etiquette.
  • Must have good organizational skills, aptitude for numbers, and experience coordinating and processing paperwork.

Tool Requirements:

  • Have a complete set of hand tools

Travel:

Travel is primary local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area travel may be expected.

  • Ability and willingness to travel as needed on short notice and up to 40% of the time

Education & Experience:

  • Must possess a high school diploma or GED and/or equivalent combination of education, experience and training that has provided knowledge, skills, and ability necessary for satisfactory job performance.
  • Must have a minimum of five (5) years’ experience with On-Site fleet maintenance and repair.

  • Must be depended on to report to work at the scheduled time and is seldom absent from work.
  • We are drug free workplace that conducts pre-employment physical and drug screenings. We are regulated by the department of transportation and will be conducting random drug testing at regular intervals.
