Job Description

The Barista provides world class hospitality to all customers of the Bistro, including residents, staff, family members and visitors. This job creates a special experience for our customers by providing them with prompt service, quality beverages and products, and maintaining a clean and comfortable environment.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Acts with integrity, honesty and knowledge that promote the culture, values and mission of Gulf Coast Village.
• Maintains a calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events to keep the Bistro operating to standard and to set a positive example for the team.
• Follows opening and closing checklists.
• Responsible for bussing tables and Bistro counter after every meal.
• Sets tables and Bistro counter for every meal to include silverware, cup/saucer, creamers and menus.
• Roles silverware for every meal.
• Makes sure there is butter in bowls ready for next meal.
• Prepares juice cart with small and large glasses for each meal.
• Prepares juice pitchers for each meal and pours drinks.
• Assists taking meal orders from residents.
• Assists in delivering meals to residents in Bistro and at Bistro Counter.
• Assists in filling soup bowls/cups and delivering to residents.
• Changes out menus each day.
• After each meal: sweeps Bistro floor, wipes down walls, wipes down chairs, wipes off tables.
• Will pick up orders from for Bistro kitchen as needed.
• Restocks supplies in cabinets and on tables.
• Sets up Water Station, refreshes water, fruit, cups and napkins when needed.
• Maintains supplies for water station and cuts fruit in slices and keeps a supply on hand.
• Checks temperature in all refrigerators and freezers and logs daily when Lead is absent.
• Follows Gulf Coast Village’s policies and procedures for time and attendance including clocking out for meal breaks.
• Anticipates customer and Bistro needs by constantly evaluating environment and customers for cues. Communicates information to manager so that the team can respond as necessary.
• Assists with new partner training by positively reinforcing successful performance and giving respectful and encouraging coaching as needed.
• Contributes to positive team environment by recognizing alarms or changes in team morale and performance and communicating them to the store manager.
• Delivers world class hospitality to all customers by acting with a customer comes first attitude and connecting with the customer. Discovers and responds to customer needs.
• Follows Gulf Coast Village’s operational policies and procedures, including those for cash handling and safety and security, to ensure the safety of all Associates during each shift.
• Maintains a clean and organized workspace so that partners can locate resources and product as needed.
• Provides quality beverages, whole bean, and food products consistently for all customers by adhering to all recipe and presentation standards. Follows health, safety and sanitation guidelines for all products.
• Recognizes and reinforces individual and team accomplishments by using existing organizational methods.
• Maintains regular and punctual attendance.
• Reports issues to Barista Lead or Dining Room Manager.


Job Requirements

• Maintains regular and consistent attendance and punctuality, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Available to work flexible hours that may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Meets Bistro operating policies and standards, including providing quality beverages and food products, cash handling and store safety and security, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Engages with and understand our customers, including discovering and responding to customer needs through clear and pleasant communication.
• Complies with Gulf Coast Village’s uniform dress code.
• Prepares food and beverages to standard recipes or customized for customers, including recipe changes such as temperature, quantity of ingredients or substituted ingredients.
• Available to perform many different tasks within the Bistro during each shift.
• Reports issues to Bistro Lead or Dining Room Manager.
