Job Description

Brightway Commons Apartments is looking for a part time entry level position to join the team in Milford, DE! 

~ This is a 20 hours a week position. You can choose to work part time 7a-11a or 8a-12p Monday-Wednesday and then every weekend Sat-Sun (either mornings or afternoons).  We are flexible on the weekends.

Objective: The Janitor is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness of all facility areas including floor care. All responsibilities will be conducted in a manner that is consistent with the philosophy of .


1. Dusts all tables, chairs, desks, cabinets, lamps/light fixtures, wall vents, handrails, ceiling fans, baseboards, and blinds.
2. Checks sofas/chairs for debris and vacuums, dusts, and spot cleans sofas/chairs.
3. Vacuums carpets, sweeps and mops floors. Spot cleans carpet.
4. Cleans and sanitizes bathrooms. Refills paper towels, toilet paper and soap dispensers.
5. Cleans insides of windows and mirrors.
6. Cleans and waters plants.
7. Empties trash. Takes trash from staging area to dumpster. Takes recyclables to containers.
8. Cleans inside and outside of washers/dryers. Empties the lint traps.
9. Checks for marks on wall. Completes all apartment turnovers as identified.
10. Identifies potential maintenance issues.
11. Demonstrates safe and proper techniques for chemical/cleaning solution use and stocking of housekeeping carts.
12. Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.


Job Requirements


1. Previous cleaning experience preferred.
2. Ability to understand and follow procedures, work assignments, instructions, warnings and labels.
3. Adequate strength, endurance and coordination to meet the strenuous physical demands of such responsibilities as dusting, mopping, vacuuming and scrubbing.
4. Must be willing to work flexible hours.
5. Ability to meet the requirements identified in the essential functions.
6. Ability to speak, read, write and understand English.
