Job Description

The Volunteers of America Colorado Float Team is a team of experience professionals that assist in the facilities that we serve, such as the Senior Community Care Program for All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE), Horizons Health Care Center, Valley Manor Care Center, Homestead at Montrose, and Home Health of Western Colorado.  Float team employees are an important part of the facility staffing as you will be covering shifts for leave of absence or call-ins, as well as regular turnover in the facilities.  You are required to work a minimum of four shifts per month.

The Colorado Float Team is looking for an  PRN Transportation Driver who is flexible, reliable, well organized and a team player, who is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of facility residents. Including transport of residents, meals, durable medical equipment, pharmacy, and any other transportation as deemed necessary. Responsible for overall cleanliness and safety of the vehicle assigned on a daily basis. Responsible for communicating any safety issues to the Director of Nursing or Designee.


Job Requirements


1. High school diploma or equivalent required.
2. Enjoy working with the elderly; minimum one year experience in a healthcare setting required.
3. If operating organization vehicle you must be twenty-one (21) years of age, meet the MVR organization standards, have a valid driver’s license, and ability to obtain CDL license within six (6) months of hire required.
4. Able to read and understand maps and routing information.
5. Able to handle information in a confidential manner at all times.
6. Able to deal professionally and diplomatically with people.
7. Must be flexible, and able to function in stressful situations.
8. Knowledge of safety requirements pertaining to the transportation industry.
9. Requires individual who can coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
10. Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with residents, caregivers, and co-workers.
11. Proficient in identifying and recommending problem resolution.
12. Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
13. Common sense problem-solving.
14. Ability to utilize computers and other electronic devices for tasks such as timekeeping, in-servicing and documentation.
