2nd Shift PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR

Door Division / VT Industries – SUPA Doors

Duties and Responsibilities:

This is a team management position responsible for production activities in the door fabrication plant.  Looking for a manager with good production, continuous improvement and people management skills. Able to lead a production team and processes that enables the company to exceed customer expectations.

 

Supervisor’s Role:

  • Hire, train and lead a team of people to safely perform a set of production or maintenance processes
  • Motivate and engage team members / Champion VT Mission, Vision and Values
  • Work with your teams to get input to continuously improve processes
  • Administer company policies, safety rules and rules of conduct
  • Comply with state and federal laws such as OSHA, Civil Rights Act, ADA, FMLA, Workers Comp
  • Treat all team members fairly and consistently 
  • Achieve key metrics to deliver top quality products to our customers on-time

Responsibilities and Activities:

  • Promote a safe work environment for all employees through basic knowledge of OSHA requirements.
  • Monitor daily and weekly production metrics, goals and demands of manufacturing operations.
  • Communicate with other members of the Management Team through daily written reports.
  • Organize and assign work duties of employees.
  • Evaluate employee performance and complete timely appraisals and other performance related documents.
  • Conduct periodic quality audits throughout responsible work area(s)
  • Monitor employee standard work and 5S.
  • Assure materials, methods and machines are functioning properly at all times.
  • Partner with HR in recruiting new hires and the job bidding / transfer processes (understand and follow HR policies / procedures)
    • HR makes all job offers and transfer offers
    • Follow re-hire guidelines (check with HR to review any re-hire’s personnel file) 
    • Follow probationary period follow up with new hires / transfers to check on progress
    • Don’t move poor performers to other teams – coach and address performance issues
  • Orient new hires / transfers to the team and production processes – train on new position and equipment
  • Manage employee schedules and time off / missed in Kronos
    • Daily update and track team member’s time in Kronos
    • Enter schedule changes in Kronos
    • Contact HR on any Short-Term Disability (STD) or FMLA absences
    • Notify HR of any LOAs or other extended absences
  • Conduct hourly performance reviews in a timely manner (within calendar month of anniversary date)
  • Administer Attendance and Perfect Attendance Policies in an accurate and timely fashion
    • Timely, professionally and properly issue disciplinary warnings with an HR Rep
  • Promptly complete Change of Status (COS) forms and send to HR (resignations, STD, etc.)
  • Properly manage skills-based pay competency training / demonstration and pay raises
  • Leverage WIN! Award program to recognize employees and teams for going above and beyond
  • Ability to be at work 8-10 hours a day, five days a week with occasional mandatory overtime.
  • Follow Continuous Improvement and Lean concepts to assure operational protocol are used daily.
  • Works with HR to resolve employee relations matters
  • Other duties as required

Desired Competencies / Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or 3-5 years related experience and/or training
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 1-2 years’ experience in Lean manufacturing/Continuous Improvement principles.
  • Ability to lead others
  • Strong team player
  • Good interpersonal, communication and computer skills
  • High level of organizational skills
  • Ability and desire to develop others
  • Must be able to pass any Pre-Employment screening
  • Must have valid ID/Social Security Card
  • Must have Reliable transportation

Additional Salary Information:  ($45,000 + based on direct/relevant experience)
