Summary Description:                                                                    

Responsible for engineering, permitting, environmental compliance, and reclamation planning for site.  This includes development of accurate and functional long-range mine plans, annual budget plans and forecasts, accurate and functional monthly short-range plans, monthly mining statistical reporting/analysis, engineering studies for capital acquisitions, surveying support for operations, and negotiation with regulatory authorities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:             

  • Participate and promote safety processes, systems, programs, and mine engineering designs which provide the safest possible work environment.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop junior employees, preparing subordinates for career growth and building succession within the company/corporation.
  • Coordinate and prepare annual budget mine plans and present them to the customer
  • Coordinate the preparation of quarterly forecasts and present them to corporate
  • Manage the monthly closing and forecasts for each mine area and coordinate variance analysis
  • Provide engineering support for strategic company projects
  • Oversee development, submittal and approval of mine operating permits and other regulatory permits.
  • Coordinate permits and regulatory reporting for all mining areas
  • Coordinate compliance with permits and regulations
  • Maintain good working relationships with state and federal regulators
  • Survey tons mined by lease for royalty calculations

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering or Environmental field
  • Eight to ten years of mining and regulatory related experience 
  • Previous supervisory experience is required 
  • Must have good organizational skills
  • PE certification desirable
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and systems
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
