Summary Description:                                                                     

Westmoreland Coal Company currently has a position available for a full time permanent Maintenance Planner I at the Estevan Mine. Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, this position is responsible for the implementation of the physical asset management strategy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:             

  • Administering maintenance routines and schedules;
  • Keeping maintenance records;
  • Tracking maintenance key performance indicators;
  • Assisting with project planning, estimating, scope definition and cost tracking;
  • Sourcing, ordering and expediting equipment parts;
  • Participating in planning and scheduling meetings;
  • Reviewing outstanding maintenance work orders;
  • Organizing and arranging contract services;
  • Tracking equipment usage;
  • Coordinating equipment downtime with production requirements;
  • Supporting condition monitoring program;
  • Entering data in Computerized Maintenance Management System; and
  • Assuming other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Skills:

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Work and Excel;
  • Have previous experience using Enterprise Resource Planning software such as SAP or JDEdwards;
  • Have solid data entry and data manipulation abilities;
  • Demonstrate ability to adapt to tight deadlines, heavy workloads and sudden or frequent changes in priority; and
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.

It would be considered an asset to have:

  • Previous Microsoft Access and/pr SQL database experience; and
  • A business administration diploma or similar educaton.
