Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include a wide range of activities including, but not limited to:

  • Directly supervise, deploy personnel and plan equipment for Mine Operations based on weekly plans, production targets and requirements.
  • Carry out regular safety and environmental inspections of all areas to ensure that operations are being carried out in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
  • Prepare and complete necessary production documents.
  • Communicate and act on pre and post shift activities.
  • Follow up with employees off for illness, injury; actively manage and develop the performance of employees. Maintain appropriate records of any employee performance issues and take corrective action.
  • Communicate and work cooperatively with maintenance to ensure equipment is maintained while maximizing production.
  • Assuming other duties and/or responsibilities as required in response to changing circumstances and the economic and physical environment of the Mine or Company.

Job Requirements

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have a minimum of Grade 12 education, along with University/Technical training and 3 – 4 years of related experience. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Have a Provincial Mine Safety Supervision Certificate.
  • Set objectives which are realistic but aggressive.
  • Ensure that work accomplished is complete in all relevant aspects.
  • Adapt to tight deadlines, heavy workloads and sudden or frequent changes in priority in order to accomplish objectives.
  • Review and set performance standards for work assigned.
