Summary Description:                                                                     

The Warehouse Technician is part of a diverse team committed to safety. This position entails utilizing computer systems and other resources to source and locate materials in the warehouse and issue materials to mine personnel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:             

  • Receive and dispatch materials in a timely manner as requested by the operations and maintenance departments to meet their daily requirements, and interface with the appropriate personnel to maintain inventory at approved levels.
  • Record issues of materials on the computer system - complete with correct accounting codes and equipment numbers.
  • Unload incoming freight/prepare outgoing freight.
  • Receive material by verifying that the physical quantity received matches the vendor packing slip and input the receipts into the computer system.
  • Read customer orders, work orders, shipping orders, or requisitions to determine items that need to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
  • Move materials or items from receiving areas to storage areas or to other designated areas by hand or forklift.
  • Ensure that spare parts, goods and materials are stored in the warehouse in a safe, orderly and secure fashion and in compliance with safety and environmental regulations and policies.
  • Monitor, inspect and keep records of bulk storage tanks and other products on site for leaks or other problems which may cause environmental damage.
  • Ensure compliance with WHMIS and labeling of products leaving the warehouse.
  • Interface with the site Buyer and the Maintenance Manager in analyzing inventory levels, establishing reorder points and setting inventory levels based on consumption and the requirements of the mine.
  • Ensure that cycle counts are completed on a regular basis - as per audit requirement.
  • Perform month-end duties.
