Job Description

Responsible for safe and productive operation of all drills and drill and blast crews.  Plan daily drill and blast functions and implement proper blasting designs.  Ensure that proper techniques are being used in the field by direst supervision of loading blast holes, tying in shots, and shot fire.  Assist engineering in design and implementation of drill grade.  Prepare quarterly and yearly blasting budget and drilling plans.  Manage and direct contractors.  Work with Montanan DEQ for recording and reporting.  Manage explosives permit for BATFE compliance.

Job Requirements

Five years experience in mining industry or substitution of two years with a B.S. degree in Mining or a related Engineering field.   Must have previous experience in supervising and directing work efforts. Demonstrated knowledge in the operation and maintenance of heavy equipment.   Prior experience in explosives, overburden blasting and dragline casting operations considered a plus. Demonstrated knowledge of environmental and safety regulations.  Must demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills, ability to interact with workforce.   Successful candidate must possess a Montana Mine Foreman Certificate or other MSHA-recognized mine foreman certification and be able to pass BATFE background checks.
