Position Summary

Under general supervision, provide risk and control advisory and assurance around operations as well as support the corporate audit initiatives. Assist with process or system changes to increase effectiveness, production, or general output. Coordinates cross-functionally with operations and total quality departments on matters of audit status or schedules.

 

Supervisor Responsibilities

This position does not have formal supervisory responsibilities over other employees.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Apply knowledge of mining operations, risk and control framework with the ability to propose and plan for operational audits in business units and identify operational risks.
  • Handle operations audits and assess company operations, process, compliance and other associated risks.
  • Identify opportunities for improving business processes, based on audit outcomes, to minimize risks.
  • Evaluate and recommend revisions to internal controls and operational and management policies/procedures. 
  • Assist with Sox compliance efforts between IA, external auditors, and control owners. 
  • Recommend organizational objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluating and improving the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes. 
  • Develop strong relationships with stakeholders and apply the highest degree of professionalism. 
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and team to complete deliverables in-line with IA standards. 
  • Research complex issues, benchmark data, analyze, and recommend solutions. 
  • Perform related work as required.

 

                                                          

Job Requirements

Typical Physical Demands

Work in a safe manner at all times and be aware of environmental responsibilities both in an office and in a mining or industrial setting. This is sedentary work which requires the following physical activities: bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, sitting, walking, finger dexterity, feeling, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual acuity. Ability to lift minimum of 10 pounds to a maximum of 20 pounds unassisted; able to perform repetitive standing, sitting, stooping, walking, stretching, reaching, lifting, and use full range of body motions.

Typical Working Conditions

Normal office environment. Occasional evening or weekend work. Travel approximately 10% to company mines, offices, and for training purposes

 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in Engineering, Operations Management, Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of related work experience.
  • Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.

 

Licenses, Registration, and Certifications

  • Professional certifications desirable
