Job Description

Summary Description: 

Prepare mine plans and engineering designs.  Perform monthly evaluations of productivity and economics of mine areas.  Update geological models, design and layout mine passes, and forecast mine progression.  Design haul roads, ramps, pond drainages, and dragline accesses.  Evaluate purchase and use of mining equipment and mining methods.  Perform FAS 143 Studies, Reserve Studies and coordinate the Annual Operating Budget.  Carry out responsible and varied engineering assignments which require a general familiarity with a broad spectrum of the engineering field.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:             

  • Perform tasks dealing with month-end closing responsibilities.
  • Prepare short-range and long-range mine plans.
  • Prepare engineering designs for safety and production.
  • Prepare monthly forecast and analysis information.
  • Prepare FAS 143 and Reserve Studies.
  • Coordinate the Mine Annual Operating Budget.
  • Ensure regulatory permits and conditions are met for continued mining.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field
  • 2 or more years’ experience
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Autodesk Map, SurvCAD, Excel and Access or similar software
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
  • Ability to work independently, adjust to changing priorities and to handle different and multiple tasks
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good presentation skills
