Job Description

Wylander Solutions, a recruiting company specializing in the construction and remodeling industry, is recruiting a Purchasing Assoicate, for Touch of Color Design Group, a floor covering company located in Central PA. They specialize in multi-family, builder and retail floor covering. With 7 locations, this company has been the best place to buy flooring in Central PA since 2002. This role will be located out of Harrisburg, PA. As a Purchasing Associate you will responsible for purchasing, vendor communication and coordination; manage purchase to inventory numbers to goals. Facilitate on-time purchase order placement and component delivery; work closely with all cross functional teams to maintaining accurate purchasing and item information in RFMS operating system. Monitor and maintain proper inventory levels to meet company goals.

Compensation:

  • Base salary: $45,000-$55,000
  • Employee is eligible for company bonus plan

Responsibilities:

  • Create jobs or stock PO’s for all Material Requests placed by others within the company
  • Maintain full knowledge of ordering processes for all suppliers and ensure these processes are followed to ensure accurate ordering and delivery of goods
  • Ensure pricing within company system is correct to most current agreements with suppliers when placing orders, this includes being aware of changing price breaks based on volume, special spot discounts, freight deals, and payment terms
  • Utilize look-ahead process within the system to ensure that orders for product are placed when necessary with suppliers so that material is within our warehouse and available to stage for install 7-10 days prior
  • In the event that another employee has received their own quote for a special order job, if the company has better pricing through other arrangements ensure the lowest current accurate price is used and that whomever quoted the work is aware of the change in pricing
  • Establish and maintain tracking processes for inventory levels for specific projects or customers so that reordering can happen at necessary intervals
  • Ensure warehouse staff is aware of order minimums while at the same time working to minimize inventory on hand to improve company cash position and inventory turns
  • For products with longer lead times, or customers with shorter lead times, ensure product levels are sufficient to meet demand
  • Establish and maintain reporting on product usage to ensure appropriate quantities are ordered – this could include providing reporting to other employees or executives within the company as requested
  • Assist both Estimating and Sales with knowledge on what products we use for which customers, this is beyond simply knowing what is in a customer’s program, but also what products within their program are they using regularly
  • Maintain knowledge of lead times for all products specified and ensure where appropriate that this lead time is communicated to Sales, Estimating, or Customers

Requirements:

  • 3+ years purchasing experience, preferably in the flooring industry, as well as business to business in the commercial and builder industry
  • Must be able to attend training in Virginia if necessary
  • Experience using RFMS is a plus
  • Computer literacy/proficiency in a Windows Operating System and Internet and Software Systems
  • Product knowledge or the ability to quickly learn it
  • Detail orientated

  • Proven strong time management and organizational skill
